ENMAKSAN POWER / Help & information

Frequently
Asked Questions.

Clear answers for your next power project. Explore generator selection, system options, installation and ongoing operation.

01 / Generator selection

Start with
the right requirements.

Define the load, operating duty and site conditions before comparing generator options.

How do I choose the right generator size?

Start with a load schedule showing running power, starting demand and which equipment operates at the same time. Include voltage, frequency, phase, intended duty and site conditions. Motor starting and sudden load changes can affect selection, so the total running load alone is not enough. Share this information with ENMAKSAN POWER for a project-specific review.

What is the difference between kW and kVA?

kW measures active electrical power, while kVA measures apparent power. Their relationship depends on power factor: kW = kVA × power factor. Compare generator ratings using the stated power factor and duty; do not assume that two ratings use identical conditions.

What do standby, prime and continuous ratings mean?

These ratings describe different operating duties and load conditions. Standby generally relates to backup supply during utility interruptions, while prime and continuous ratings address other operating profiles. Permitted hours, load factors and overload provisions depend on the applicable rating definition and manufacturer documentation. Confirm the exact duty in the proposed datasheet.

Do temperature and altitude affect generator output?

They can. Ambient temperature, altitude, cooling airflow and installation conditions may affect the usable output of the engine and alternator. Request ratings or derating information for the actual site rather than relying only on standard reference conditions.

Can a generator supply sensitive electronic equipment?

Suitability depends on the equipment and its power-quality requirements. Review voltage and frequency regulation, transients, harmonic loads and any UPS or power-conditioning arrangement. A generator alone should not be assumed to provide uninterrupted or disturbance-free power for every load.

02 / Generator solutions

Understand
the system options.

Compare configurations against the electrical network and the application they will serve.

What is a medium voltage generator?

It is a generating configuration with an output voltage classified as medium voltage for the relevant project and jurisdiction. Confirm the alternator terminal voltage and equipment class. Direct medium voltage generation differs from a low voltage generator connected through a step-up transformer. Discuss the required configuration through our contact team.

What is cogeneration or combined heat and power?

Cogeneration produces electricity and recovers useful heat from the same energy input. Its suitability depends on electrical demand, usable heat temperatures, operating hours and project economics. Explore cogeneration systems.

What should I consider for a DC generator system?

Define the required DC voltage range, continuous and peak current, and operating duty. If batteries are involved, confirm chemistry, charging limits and battery management system compatibility. Direct DC generation and AC generation with rectification are different architectures. Explore DC generator systems.

Can multiple generators operate together?

Compatible units can operate in parallel with coordinated synchronisation, load sharing, switchgear and protection. Mixed ratings or brands require a compatibility review. Utility-parallel operation also needs an approved connection arrangement. Explore synchronization systems.

What is a trailer-mounted generator?

It is a generating set integrated with a trailer arrangement for movement between suitable sites. The complete mass, towing interface, trailer capacity and installation requirements must be assessed together. Public-road approval depends on the final configuration and applicable requirements. Explore trailer generators.

Can a generator be configured for a specialised project?

Discuss the electrical duty, environment, enclosure, controls, transport and documentation requirements with ENMAKSAN POWER. Options and compliance must be confirmed for the exact proposed configuration. A product name or appearance does not establish a particular certification.

03 / Installation & controls

Plan the installation.
Define the interfaces.

The generator, electrical connection and site infrastructure need to be reviewed together.

What information is needed before installation?

Provide the site layout, electrical single-line diagram, load schedule, ambient conditions and available space. Review ventilation, exhaust routing, fuel arrangements, foundation loads, maintenance access, noise requirements and electrical protection with the responsible specialists.

Can a diesel generator operate inside a building?

An indoor installation requires a purpose-designed plant room with appropriate ventilation, combustion air, exhaust discharge and other measures specified by the manufacturer and responsible designers. Do not operate a combustion-engine generator in an enclosed or occupied space without an approved installation; exhaust gases can be dangerous.

What does an automatic transfer switch do?

An automatic transfer switch manages the connection of an installation between designated power sources according to its control design. It is normally coordinated with generator start and stop functions. Specify transfer requirements, interlocks and protection; an ATS alone does not provide generator synchronisation or UPS ride-through.

Will the generator start automatically during a power cut?

Automatic operation depends on the selected controls, utility monitoring and transfer arrangement. Confirm the sequence, starting requirements and essential loads in the specification. Automatic starting does not mean every load receives power without an interruption.

Can I connect a generator directly to a building supply?

The connection must use an appropriate engineered interface with isolation, switching, protection and earthing for the site. Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel under the applicable requirements. Do not backfeed a building or utility network through an improvised connection.

How much installation space is required?

Required space depends on the generator dimensions, cooling airflow, exhaust arrangement and maintenance clearances. Use the approved installation drawing for the selected model, including access for major service work and equipment removal.

04 / Operation & maintenance

Keep performance
grounded in the data.

Use the selected equipment manuals and agreed service requirements for operating decisions.

How often should a generator be serviced?

Follow the engine, alternator and generator manufacturer schedules, including both operating-hour and calendar intervals. Duty, environment and usage can affect maintenance needs. Request the applicable schedule for the exact equipment; there is no single interval suitable for every generator.

How much fuel does a generator consume?

Fuel consumption varies with engine selection, electrical load, operating conditions and fuel characteristics. Compare the proposed model’s data at clearly stated load points. A single consumption figure without the associated load and test conditions can be misleading.

How long will it run on one tank?

Runtime depends on usable fuel capacity and consumption at the actual load profile. Allow for the installation’s operating constraints and fuel-system requirements. Ask for a project-specific estimate using verified data rather than assuming tank capacity guarantees a fixed duration.

How quiet is a sound-attenuated generator?

Noise depends on the complete configuration, operating load, measurement distance and site conditions. Specify the required acoustic metric and measurement conditions, then compare documented performance for the selected enclosure and exhaust arrangement.

Can a generator be monitored remotely?

Remote monitoring depends on the selected controller, communications equipment and site connection. Confirm the supported protocols, status information, alarms, access controls and any service requirements in the proposal.

Where can I find manuals, technical datasheets or spare-part information?

Request documentation for the exact model and configuration. For an existing generator, include its model, serial number and the relevant engine or alternator details so the correct records and component information can be identified. Contact ENMAKSAN POWER.

05 / Quotations & project planning

Make your enquiry
specific from the start.

A clear brief helps establish a useful technical and commercial proposal.

What should I include when requesting a quotation?

Send the required kW or kVA, voltage, frequency, phase, operating duty, load schedule and project location. Include ambient conditions, enclosure and noise requirements, fuel autonomy, controls, installation scope and any documentation or testing requirements.

What determines the price of a generator system?

Pricing depends on the model, engine and alternator selection, enclosure, controls, accessories, project requirements and supply scope. Installation, transport and commissioning responsibilities should be clearly identified so proposals can be compared on the same basis.

How can I confirm availability and delivery time?

Ask for current availability and a project-specific delivery estimate. Lead time depends on the selected configuration, component availability, production requirements and delivery arrangements. Confirm the agreed schedule in the commercial proposal.

What warranty applies?

Warranty terms should be confirmed in the written offer and applicable manufacturer documentation for the exact equipment. Review the coverage, duration, maintenance obligations and claim process before placing an order. No universal warranty period is stated on this page.

Can I discuss an international project?

Share the destination, technical requirements and requested supply scope with ENMAKSAN POWER. Shipping arrangements, documentation, installation responsibilities and any destination-specific requirements should be clarified in the proposal.
